Why DID the chicken cross the road?

So Matt and I are driving down the road, switching to hotel #2 out of 3 since we've been here, and I look over and there are some chickens and roosters on the side of the road, a major road I might add, and I thought what the heck! Totally random one time thing I think. But no, we drive by again the next day, and they are still there. Then we go to the movies the other night, and they are still there! They are hanging out, eating bugs and stuff, and crowing like crazy! And the really do have to cross a side street to get from one grassy area to the other. As Matt and I walk into the theater I asked him, HOW do you think the chickens cross the road? He laughed and said I can't believe you actually sad that. The reason I asked was because they had to cross a pretty big side street (that's lighted none-the-less!) so get from one side to the other. Chickens are ok flyers but not the greatest so I was wondering if they walked, which would be a truly dangerous enterprise! I'm going to get some pictures soon and post them so everyone can see these crazy roosters and chickens on the side of the road! Small town, what can I say?

So these are a few pics I took of the chickens and roosters by the road. I'm not on the road side cause I would've had to stop basically on the road and it's pretty busy so I need Matt's help so we can take drive by pics! But, as you can see, there is a road, and chickens walking around right next to it. Don't worry, I'll get better pics to show the true craziness of these chickens!

Into the land of milk and honey?

So no pics yet but I figured I'd write a little something about our drive to CALIFORNIA! We arrived last night at about 9:15 PM after 10 long hours of driving through desert, desert and more desert. Thankfully all those years of driving through Wyoming to get back and forth from UT and CO has conditioned me for such boring drives! However, poor Matt was completely stir-crazy by the time we hit the CA border and we still had about 2 hours to go. For some crazy reason, all semi-truck traffic was diverted through the route we needed to go so that last hour took 2 and it was slow! I'll put up some pics later of what the salty desert west of salt lake looks like. Like salt! Never would've guessed huh? It's hard to drive and take pics at the same time so there aren't a whole lot, but some that I think all will enjoy! Driving through the CA mountains through Tahoe was really lovely; lots of places to hike and camp! While we drove through it was sunset which was amazing; a truly beautiful sight through the trees! From what we could see in the darkness, Yuba is really small. We were prepared for small town but it's almost smaller than we thought. That was just the initial look though; I'm headed out today for some exploration while Matt gets to go to work! Tomorrow is the beginning of house hunting with our realtor Shelia; I'm very excited to meet her and see what's in store! We are so excited to see what God has for us here! We know He brought us here for a purpose and we're ready to see what happens! Hopefully we'll get lots of visitors from home and school soon! Once we find a place to live, we hope to get settled quickly then have a BBQ for the neighbors, coworkers, and anyone else who wants to come visit and/or get to know us! Ok, I'm going out to see our new home! Pics will be posted soon!

An Ode to Our Life in Tucson

Moving time is upon us!! FINALLY! But sadly we must leave some very dear friends. I know I haven't been the best about keeping up with this thing (aka the Nomadic Moritz) BUT, what are you gonna do about it? I figure since we're leaving Tucson in a few days, I'd post some of the more recent pics all together. We've had an all church celebration which was amazing and made us see what we're really going to miss. We went to the Renaissance Festival which was super fun....we got some fun/funny pics there! And we went to a UofA basketball game! Crazy! We didn't really care what the outcome was but we had fun with our sweet friend Adrienne and her bro. We also went to a dinner theater with our amazing friend Warren and Deanna-it was so fun-and HILARIOUS!! Went also visited the San Xavier Mission, which was pretty cool-it's supposed to be the best example of Spanish Colonial architecture in the US. It was neat to see-I know I drove them all crazy talking about art history stuff. We may not miss the area so much but we will miss the people who we've grown to love here. But we are really excited for our next chapter in life:
CALIFORNIA!!! here we come!! Don't worry...I'll keep this better posted once we get there!

Our church family praying/one of our favorite guys-we'll miss goofy "Arkansas"-John boy!

Fire Whips and elephant rides and cute little girls (Syd) at the Renaissance Festival!

Look at the fat lady! And that crazy couple..aww cute kids! Flowers in the hair are always pretty!

Go Wildcats? Adrienne and Glen made the game super fun!

Anyone for the dinner theater? Warren and Deanna are amazing! We're just goofy!

The mission was pretty cool! This took a few tries to get us and it in the same pic!

A Blacksburg Wedding

So Matt was in our groomsman Chad's wedding on 1-9-09 in Blacksburg VA. We love Chad and Lindsay so much and it was a blessing to get to take part in this wedding! We stayed with Grant and Jen, he was the best man, she was like me, a lonely and dejected wife. Just kidding! We did get to hang out a lot though, which was really fun! I feel much closer to her now! So here are the few pics we got; we mostly have video since that is what Matt likes to do for weddings!

The bride to be and me-L squared...actually, Lynsey (Lindsay) squared!

We stayed with them!

During the wedding

Don't they look great! Matt...stop talking!

Toast time!

We're going to go on a vacation with them!! YAY!!

Admit it...we're fun!

This was the only G rated part of the "get away" car! No seriously, all other photos are XXX

We hung out, it was great!

Of course I was wild on the dance floor! Linds had some FUN friends!

Oh the places we go....

While on our world...ok maybe not WORLD...but USA wide travels, we got to go to DC while visiting Matt's fam in SOMD....that's southern Maryland in case you aren't in the "know". Although I am a anti-city person, I do enjoy a good trip to DC every now and then...last time I was there it was 2 years ago. On this trips agenda we went to the art museum, of course, the natural history museum, which just spent 84 million dollars on a new underwater life exhibit, and the WWII monument, Matt hadn't been yet. To get to the WWII monument, you must pass the Washington monument and it's on the way to the reflecting pool and Lincons monument. So, you get to see a lot in no time, yay for DC! Well really, yay to any big city. So here are pretty much the only pictures we got while we were there. We also met up with our bestman and his wife for dinner.
Yup, thats us...right at sunset

WWII monument and the Washington in back

Mounted policeman meet park ranger...oh yes it's true, "the mall" is a national park who needs park rangers...

Twins? yes, yes they are!

There's something growing out of our heads!

Oh good, it's just the Washington Monument!

There is NO resemblance at all!!

He was hard to catch but we finally did!

Jacki's Wedding....a New Year's Event!

All I can say is that Jacki's wedding was super fun and amazing!! I feel so honored that she had me as the maid (I know...matron, it just makes me sound SO OLD!) of honor! They are truly a great couple and she is my best friend ever! They both looked amazing (as you will see!)...seriously, super model material here folks! Enjoy the "behind the scenes" pics that only yours truly got to take!

Seriously...SUPER MODELS!!!

December 11, 2008

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas! Well, kinda!

Well, it's that time of year! Snow falling, sledding, making snowmen...BUT, not here! I guess we could make sandmen but they wouldn't work well huh? As we got our Christmas tree it was odd because it still doesn't feel like Christmas to us! Yes, the calender says December 12, 2008. But the weather says September 3! It's weird to be singing "Baby it's cold outside" and "Let It Snow" while cruising along the street with the sunroof and all the windows open; definitely a first for me, and sadly the second year for Matt. It has been fun though; I'm actually liking the fact that I can wear just jeans and a long sleeved shirt and flip flops to go shop for presents, instead of having to layer up, get the poofy jacket on, and trudge through the snow at all times to get from point a to point be. However, we do miss the snow, the cold (or chilliness) that comes with it, having to snuggle up under a blanket with cocoa to watch a movie. SO, if you are cold, count yourself lucky! There are those of us who aren't and kind of want to be at times!
Another first for us is spending the entire holiday season with out our families. Last year we had Thanksgiving with my parents, then Christmas totally alone, just the 2 of us, which was definitely a first! This year, the whole sha-bang is all alone; Thanksgiving was spent with some families from our church, which was such a blessing, we were truly thankful for! Christmas will be the same, we'll open presents the 2 of us and then dinner with the families, which we are so excited for! It'll be soo wonderful to spend the birth of our Savior with such wonderful and loving families!
So these are the pics of us with Joey and our tree and the final product of our decorated tree at home!

Out in the desert with the cacti and our tree and us!

Again, out in the desert! Look at our funny sweaters! Joey too!

Matt decorating our tree, so pretty!

Our "First Christmas" ornament-adorable!

The finished product!
